The PCBC acts as a Notified Body with notification no. 1434, given by the European Commission, within the scope of the following Directives:
- 2006/95/EC – Electrical equipment
- 2004/108/EC – Electromagnetic compatibility
- 88/378/EEC – Safety of toys
- 89/106/EEC – Construction products (for some of materials)
- 2006/42/EC – Machinery (for selected machines)
- 94/25/EC – Recreational craft
- 90/385/EEC – Active implantable medical devices
- 93/42/EEC – Medical devices
- 98/79/EC – In vitro diagnostic medical devices
- 1996/97/EC – Energy efficiency requirements for household electric refrigerators, freezers and combinations thereof
- 1999/5/EC – Radio and telecommunications terminal equipment.
Product certification is conducted by the following departments and branch offices:
- Electrical Product Testing and Certification Department
- General Use Product and Medical Product Testing and Certification Department
- Food and Chemical Product Testing and Certification Department
- Testing and Certification Branch Office in Gdańsk
- Testing and Certification Branch Office in Piła.
The co-operation on mutual recognition of test results and certificates is realized with foreign certification bodies, among others:
EZU – Czech Republic, SIQ – Slovenia, VDE – Germany, IMQ – Italy, INTERTEK-SEMKO – Sweden, NEMKO – Norway, KEMA – Holland, TÜV TRPS – Germany, JET – Japan, UkrTEST – Ukraine, EGSC – Lithuania, SERTIKA – Lithuania, ANO NTCSE “ISEP” – Russia, ZAO NTC “SEAK-NIAI” – Russia, MERTCONTROL – Hungary, KERMI – Hungary, TÜV PS – Germany, BiełGISS –Belarus, ZAO BEIŁCSI – Belarus, BiełGIM – Belarus, RTO – Russia, KTL – Korea, ROSSERTIFIKO - Russia. This co-operation is aimed at simplification of the procedure to obtain foreign certificates by Polish manufacturers with the possibility to mark products with respective marks.
